I took weeks off of barbell lifting while in Brazil and then did one squat session and one deadlift session when I got back. I'm now taking another two weeks off of the Olympic and powerlifts while I work with @coachjessb on a new program to get me all structurally balanced before beginning new intense programming! Since I started lifting weights 3 years ago I haven't taken more than one week at a time off from the barbell and it's shocking what some real rest can do for your system. I have still been doing all sorts of accessory lifts with @coachjessb as well as martial arts and some plyometric and power work. Switching things up a bit and getting moving in different ways than you're used to is awesome for your mind and body and will benefit your training when you come back to it all refreshed! Recovery is just as important as training so don't neglect proper rest, prehab, nutrition, and sleep! πŸ‘ŠπŸΌπŸ’ͺ🏼 #MondayMotivation #GirlsThatLift

I flew back into NC eaaarly this morning, took a much needed nap, then killed my Week 2, day 1 strength program workout! A pretty good holiday off of work πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

In between my 8 deadlift sets that were after this I was watching a girl at the squat rack....She was much smaller than me (height and weight wise) and was repping out my squat 1rm! I love seeing this! Gets me so excited to see such strong women in the weight room. Motivates me to keep getting stronger and stronger! So this post is dedicated to all those strong women killing it everyday. I hope I can continue getting stronger and be like you all one day πŸ’ͺ🏽😍

For most of my adult life the measure of personal happiness has been linked to the number on the scales βš–οΈβš–οΈβš–οΈβš–οΈ
It's difficult for women not to jump on the scales even when you tell yourself not to πŸ—―πŸ—―πŸ—― I have tried to make sure the feel good factor (clothes fitting / reflection in the mirror) is more important πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡
But.............................
It becomes impossible not to get back on those bloody scales πŸ˜ͺ
But for the first time in very long time I am no longer dreading doing this deed😱
When I started my journey I was in the 80's and now I am back in the 60'sπŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ‘πŸ’―πŸ’ͺ🏻 This only usually happens when I am preparing for a body building competition and only through massive calorie restrictions and loads and loads of cardio 😩😩. This means l loose strength and become miserable 😑😑
It doesn't mean I am defined by these numbers alone but I believe I have made all the right changes and all the rights choices for MEπŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’— My own wellness is a top priority and I make no apology for this 🎯

Effort and consistency over time equals results... If you really want to improve a particular muscle/muscle group and see it grow you have got to train HARD and HEAVY!!! There's a time and place for 'tempo' training and isolation work, but in my opinion if you aren't going to go heavy you might as well go home... πŸ‘‹πŸΌπŸ‘ #TransformationTuesday

Have I ever said how much I love to squat?! I LOVE IT SO DAMN MUCH! I've been having some issues with shoulder mobility as well as pain in my left bicep/front delt so my low bar pause squats ended up being high bar, and they felt good and speedy! The best part of my program is that up until I peak, I could be lifting anywhere between 65-85% each day, so my body doesn't get so beat up that I'm a useless boob! Strength focus started today and I'm beyond stoked to finally feel some heavy weight on my back (soon)! Today was all of the 10s of paused squats followed by long pause bench, and a bunch of accessories.
